TikTok as a marketing tool
TikTok has gained a lot of traction over the recent year. "Now a diverse platform spanning ages, geographies, and interest, Horowitz, E. (2021, March 02)." Since TikTok has such a wide range of people there is an opportunity for many companies and brands to utilize this platform to their best advantage by creating content and potentially going viral through these shorts videos. TikTok also allows a lot of organic engagement given the fact that most of the content created is one's authentic self unlike content on Instagram which is more glamorous and "fake". Some of the best content to create on TikTok is through storytelling and one company that has gained a lot of traction from this is Chipotle. TikTok also allows businesses of all sizes and budgets to be able to create content and gain that organic reach that may be hard to gain on other platforms. TikTok is still growing and companies can take advantage of this platform with the right approach.
This article dives into the importance of using TikTok in this day in age. It is a platform that is very diverse so you can niche down and really target your audience in a new creative way. I personally think that it is important for brands and companies to utilize any social media platform that has a diverse audience and is budget-friendly because there are endless marketing possibilities with a platform like TikTok. People are now on their phones and social media more than ever with this pandemic. As marketers, we have to use all social media platforms to our advantage and make content that is able to reach all platforms to maximize our reach.
Understanding Color Psychology in Branding…
Color psychology is the understanding of color and how they evoke feelings or specific responses based on what is associated with the particular color or color group. When building your brand, you should consider the colors being used to associate with your brand. What do you want your customer to feel when they see your brand? How should they feel wearing your brand?
Fast food companies tend to use the color red in their brand colors, ex: KFC, Red Robin, P.F. Chang, to name a few. These are well-known establishments, and they have to use the color to tap into the psychology of red, but what does red mean? Red is associated with rage, passion, love and leadership. Companies in the medical field use the color blue, but it goes a little bit further they use light blue very few brands into other shades of blue, this can be seen in Florida Blue, Blue Cross, Anthem Insurance, Mid-State Hospital, and Yale New Haven Hospital. Blue is associated with calming, blues, even depression depending on the shade or hue.
Another example of color association is the use of 'PINK' in a feminine brand like clothing or female own businesses Lily's Closet, Lilly Lashes, House of Lashes, Vitoria Secret, to name a few. The face these brands use a similar shade of pink signifies that pink is feminine, and they are trying to attract that type of customer.
There is a brand named Rebalaccess that has every color in the rainbow in its branding. The psychology of this is the inclusion of all people; as a cosmetic brand the colors most used are nudes, pinks, black and white for a clean neutral tone, but they wanted to stand out as a lash brand they use will never miss them.
